Based in Branksome Chine Beach on the stunningly golden coast, Rockwater is the latest venture from entrepreneur Luke Davis. Void Acoustics has been installed across the establishment, which includes wellness and fitness offerings, a restaurant and bar, and wonderful roof terrace.

Marquee AV designed and installed the Void Acoustics audio systems at Rockwater. Marquee AV was involved in the project from its inception, working in close collaboration with architects RTSAN and the construction company renovating and expanding the pre-existing building.

The Senior Project Manager for Marquee AV said: “We presented several options for the sound system, but when Luke, the owner of Rockwater, saw the portfolio of venues where Void Acoustics products are installed, he was clear he wanted a Void system to be designed for the venue. I was very happy with Luke’s decision as I knew Void Acoustics would deliver precisely what he wanted.”

There were some audio design and specification challenges to overcome for the venue’s interior. Rockwater’s low ceilings required Marquee AV to understand RTSAN Architects’ design aspirations to minimise overall design intrusion and avoid impeding on the quality of the audio system. Void Acoustics’ popular Venu 8s loudspeaker series was used for the project to discreetly locate speakers with minimal impact to the overall aesthetic, whilst also offering the best audio coverage possible.

The versatile, high-quality Void Acoustics Venu 8 V2s were complemented by the Venu 6 V2 high end compact speaker and the Venu 208 ultra compact subwoofer, all in significant numbers, and in subtle black enclosures. Marquee AV and RTSAN designed purpose-built enclosures to house the Venu 208 subs and match the interiors to ensure quality bass delivery in all areas.

Rockwater’s requirements included a versatile system with excellent sonics for daytime background music, transferring to a higher performing system for evenings and weekends. Driving the sound system throughout are a notable number of Void Acoustics’ highly efficient, energy saving Bias Q1 and Bias Q2 amplifiers.

Roberto Paterna, Group Operations Director at Rockwater, said:

“The Void Acoustics sound system is one of the best sound systems I have ever worked with and it gels extremely well with the venue. The quality of the sound is outstanding. The feedback has been great, and the systems are very easy to use.”

Rockwater is the latest example of Void Acoustics’ ability to interpret and deliver on day-to-night systems for a multi-purpose installation.

Void Acoustics’ Managing Director Alex Skan concluded: “Void Acoustics has a strong brand presence globally for multi-activity beachfront venues. With a diverse product range to suit day-to-night, indoor-outdoor spaces, we are well positioned to answer complex briefs with efficient, stylish, versatile systems for these types of venues. We were thrilled when one of our systems was recommended for this beautiful space just down the coastline from our HQ here in the UK!”
