The basement club at Monarch, San Francisco, showcases a custom gold Void Acoustics audio system, recently voted one of the top 10 sound systems in the US. This horn loaded British masterpiece was the first of its kind to be permanently installed on the West Coast. The wild luxury of the sub-level sound system is balanced by a sleek poured concrete bar and custom concrete DJ stand. Two recessed lounge areas with padded walls and ottomans keep the club area social while an elevated stage invites live performances and offers a spotlight for everyday exhibitionists.

“Monarch holds a most special place in my heart as one of the owners, Chris Smith, let us do exactly what was needed  to ensure Monarch sounds amazing. Chris is a label owner and really understands quality audio. His first concern was great sound for his new club and asked for a demonstration of a Void sound system. He was our early champion. Now all the managers and owners are fans and advocates!   Long story short, we’ve been like family ever since day one.  A true symbiotic relationship.  They wanted unique and premium,  two things Void Acoustics always delivers.” Nathan Short – Void Acoustics. Monarch was awarded Best Sound by the SF Bay Guardian & SF Weekly and named Top 10 Best Sound Systems in the US by Beatport.

“Every time I switch on the amps at Monarch I tingle with a child like joy in anticipation of the amazing sound quality I’m about to bestow upon the world"

Micah Byrnes – Managing Partner at Monarch

“The search for an audiophile-quality listening experience will invariably end on the corner of Sixth and Mission. There, at the edge of one of the city’s most blighted neighbourhoods, lies Monarch, the club that recently won SF Weekly’s “Best Sound System” award. Descend past the street-level cocktail bar and into the basement, and you’ll find yourself submerged in a world of sound provided by the Void Acoustics installation. Outfitted with four tuba-like horns, it has a punchy sound that’s easy on the ears” – Ian Port – SF Weekly“

Huge club that caters to a wide variety of shows, from hosting experimental soundscape artists like Pamela Z to deep-house DJs like Miguel Migs. It’s got a cocktail bar, occasional aerial performances and a free photo booth for us selfie sluts. Tuba chandeliers complete the steampunk ambiance. Downstairs it’s all warehouse grime, a great dance floor space and a great sound system. On Tuesdays, it hosts a rad eclectic bass music night and serves tacos upstairs. Order one of their cocktails like the Darkness to feel like a badass version of yourself” – Vice Magazine.

Monarch regularly hosts top international talent, such as Maya Jane Coles, Carl Craig, Maceo Plex, Kaskade, Derrick Carter and M83, along with the best local talent the bay has to offer.
